Is It Terrible To Go For River C/Raise Here?

Post  Balloo on Mon Sep 01, 2008 2:23 pm

First hand on the table no reads. I know one of them have the 10 here. Is it terrible to look for a river c/raise here given the board?

I'd have bet the turn and river (but possibly folded the flop). Probably wrong, it's just what I would have done.

I would have folded the flop if the other guy had called before me. As it was I assumed that the button could have basically any 4 cards and I was probably ahead. When the donk calls between us I know I am toast.

I don't think it is terrible but after the turn gets checked through I think a value bet is a slightly better line. When the turn is checked he either is slowplaying a fullhouse which may raise you on the river or more likely a weak T - which is likely to call a bet but very unlikely to call a river checkraise and may not value bet.
